Change to experience splitting.
Exp is split amongst all those that damage it as though you were in a group once it dies, therefore a creature being poisoned or bled to death will credit all those involved.

Thanks Raislin,

Could you explain how group experience is working now?
  • Do you have to be in a group to share exp?
  • How do different player levels in a group affect group exp?
  • How does monster exp ranges affect group exp?
I remember back in the day you could help much low level players than yourself get experience by helping them kill things appropriate to there experience level. i.e. level 100 helping a level 30 kill ants and the level 30 gets exp still. Would it work like this now?

You don't need to be in a group to gain exp if you damage it. If two strangers kill the creature they'll both be credited. Everyone that contributes to the kill will earn experience. It's split the same way group exp is (proportional based on level).

If you are in a group then the group will earn experience like now.

Monster ranges is based on the adventurer that strikes the killing blow.

Thanks great update. Can you clarify what "monster ranges is based on the adventurer that strikes the killing blow." means?

The range stuff is generally outlined in the Monster Guide on the Wiki. The idea is that you won't get exp from killing a monster that is either too high a level or too low a level.

My understanding of Rasislin's statement is:
  • Assuming PlayerX (X) is level 25, PlayerY (Y) is level 5, and Kobold (K) is for players in the level range of 2 through 20, then the following scenarios are true:
    • If X hits K, Y hits K, then X hits K and deals the fatal blow, no experience will be awarded to either player because X is out of the acceptable range for K.
    • If X hits K, then Y hits K and deals the fatal blow, experience will be awarded to both players because Y is in the acceptable range for K.

As above. The person striking the final blow is used to decide if the creature was too high / low level for the group.

Related question: If a creature dies by poisoning/bleeding, is the person who struck the last blow supposed to get the kill added to their kill list?

If so, it's not working that way at the moment.

If not, could we get this changed to be that way?

No it doesn't. We'll have a think about how we want to handle that.
