A Fun Prank or a warning

Post by velvet »

As dusk falls Velvet waits patiently in the shadows beside an empty cart left by a merchant. Moving silently she stops across the street in front of the Tranos Trust Bank. As she watches she sees several citizens go up to the bank ,try the door and find it locked. Not close enough to hear them plainly she can tell by the tones of their voices they were upset. One group group passed right in front of her. If she had been in the mood she could of easily picked their pockets . Another time she murmurs to herself as she watches them walk away.

Patiently she waits til full night falls. She eyed the guards with disdain. She has been a thief long enough that they were of no threat to her. Carefully she looked bout. The streets were clear and all was quiet. Perfect. Quickly she darted across the street to the front door of the bank.Within seconds she had it unlocked and had slipped inside softly closing the door behind her. In the silence the sound of the door re locking sounded like someone had slammed the door. Listening she glanced about the room. It truly was quite a mess. Moving quietly through the debris she noticed another locked door across the room. She unlocked the door and slowly, soundlessly opened it . It opened into the bank's safe. With one experienced glance about the room she noted the guards standing about the room. They seemed bored and was fighting to stay awake. After all both the door to the bank and the door to the safe were locked. Who could get in ?

Within the shadows she moved past the guards to the far back of the safe. Glancing quickly back at the guards and noting they had not moved she opens her pack. She reaches in and withdraws a flag. They will see this in the morning she thought as she placed it carefully in a small pile of debris . They will see the the Thieves Emblem on it quite clearly. Moving pass the guards again back into the outer room she notices another locked door. It too was locked. Don't they know the Thieve's Guild in this town can unlock practically any lock? This room appeared to be an office . Ah yes, its the new office of Balthoron . It needs a little sprucing up.Again she reaches into her pack and brings forth yet another flag and sets it up by his desk. Looking through the desk drawers she finds a pouch of gold. With a smile she helps herself to it. Not all of it but just enough so they would know that some was missing and that she could of taken it all if she had chosen too. She places the left over gold in the pouch upon the desk top and draws in the light layer of dust the thieves sign . Glancing at it she wonders if he would know what it was.

As she heads to the to the front door she places her last flag in the center of the room. Her lips curl in a smile as she turns and glances one last time over the room. The flag in the center of the room immediately catching ones attention. She feels without saying a word that the message is quite clear. Lock all the doors, the windows, any opening that admits you into a room and the Thieves guild if they so desired could get in and help themselves to what they guard so zealously .

Chuckling to herself she leaves the bank, slips across the town onto a near by roof top. Dozing off and on a loud commotion brings her fully awake. The new guards had arrived and found her little prank. Laughing out loud she runs across the rooftops to her guild. Inside she gets herself a cup of hot cocoa and sips it slowly. Chuckling aloud from time to time as she pictures what might be going on in the bank.

The old pirate watched from a nearby rooftop as Velvet went about her thieving prank. He very much approved. After all the dark shadow drama that had befallen the Land, a bit of fun was surely called for. And he was very proud of this particular thief as well. It wasn't everyday that one of his ilk made it to milestone 300, so if she wanted to run about leaving guild flags and messages written in the dust of the bank, who was he to disparage that? In fact he encouraged it!

Leaving Velvet to her "work", Jaimie chuckled and slipped back into the shadows of the Tranos rooftops. He had a meeting to go to. It had been far too long since there was a tri-guild thieving alliance, and he wanted things to go well.....as well as very profitable for all involved.
