A piece of light in the darkness

Post by Radiant Lunar »

Lunar had found himself wandering. Offering what aid he could, he had caught whispers of an entire city of his darker kin. He asked the adventurers where they had seen this city. Given the directions he decided to go see this for himself. He traveled to the northern lands and felt the cool winds whipping off the mountains. He wondered to himself if he was truly on the right path. With a slight shake of his head he reassured himself, that he would go wherever in his quest for knowledge and wisdom. As he continued onwards he found the entrance into a cave network the adventurers had mentioned. With a nod he held his staff up high and the crystal at its tip began to glow, lighting the path before him. He entered the cave and pushed into the dark before him. It was not long until he caught glimpse of the first of his kin, thinking he had been caught they simply smirked at him, mistaking him for one of their own. But with caution he still let the crystal grow dim and wrapped himself in a small cloak of magic, rendering himself completely invisible. Pushing onwards he saw more of his kind, some riding dragons, some seemed to just be doing daily chores. This fascinated him but he did not wish to intrude. Instead he saw a path leading off to his right, following it to the source, his jaw almost dropped as he saw and entire city before him. Like the city's he was so accustomed to. People went about their lives as normal, bakers, artisans, guards. He made sure to stay just a bit back as not to alert them of his presence as he continued to explore.

Suddenly a light shining through the darkness from another cave off to his left caught his attention. He had to see what it was. He continued onwards, the light seemed to twist and coil its way through the corridors, calling to him. Whatever the source was it must be great, perhaps an exit. As he rounded the last corner his jaw truly did drop as he walked out into a clearing and before him was a grand sight. A large stairway made of pure light climbed up into the clouds. No hesitation he rendered himself visible again and stepped towards it. He placed his hand upon the bottom step and smiled, it was warm. Pure light, ascending to the heavens. He could hardly contain himself at the find, he immediately went to theorizing on its creation, a book in his hand he begun scribing all his thoughts,

"A stairway made of pure light which seems to ascend to the very heavens themselves. Could this be where Alvogyl himself took his place among the Immortals? It is only a theory, but I believe this to be the case. Further study of Light's history and study of this stairway to the heavens will be required. Perhaps, Lady Caerwyn herself might know something of it."

Hearing sounds behind him he felt some of the Dark Elves had noticed his presence and he quickly looked around him. Closing his eyes he made a picture of the area in his mind, remembering every single detail. He then waved his hand and disappeared with a popping sound to find himself at Riverrun once more. A sigh of relief and sadness that he had to abandon the find so early. He immediately called forth his gold dragon and climbed atop it. He gave it a pat and whispered,"Take me to the Spire with all haste, my friend."

Arriving at the Grand Spire he rushed to find someone to share this find with. A smile still on his face and the thoughts rushing through his mind.
