Putting it together

Post by natalia »

The dust from Goldcroft had started to settle after the most recent attack by The Revenant. She sat on top of the Spire in the Woodtop, over looking the realm. Her mind was a mess. She knew she had gone to a beach to discuss the attack but couldn't remember who was there or what was said.

She stepped closer to the balcony, eyes fogged over. Only her mind was active, replaying all the events since she first ran into The Hooded Figure.

Like a puzzle she tried to piece each of the details together, one by one. Her body sank onto the floor starting to fear the worst.

Jasra and Hien watched her from the entry of the Spire, waiting for her to speak. Finally her mouth moved, she informed them of her fears. Hien pledged the Legion would be there if any battle was to happen. A bit of comfort but not enough to settle her breaking heart.

A priestess made her way towards Natalia, she whispered in their ear giving instructions to ask Caerwyn to meet her as soon as possible. With haste the priestess ran to find Caerwyn's personal page.

Word had reached Natalia that Jennjenn was making her way up the Spire. She attempted to gain her composure but she couldn't hide the her puffy eyes.

Wasting no time, she informed Jennjenn of the recent events.

"Have you told Lady Caerwyn yet?" questioned Jennjenn.

"Not yet, but I have sent message asking her to privilege me with her audience." Natalia replied.

"I hope to hear back soon, preferably before our meeting" the mouse continued.

"She will be able to provide us with more guidance." Jennjenn nodded.

More visions ran through her eyes, they have been more frequent and for longer duration. She could tell Jennjenn was speaking but all the words were muffled as the visions ran rampant.

Lets just await word from Caerwyn she thought.

The end of Frost Fall was less than forgiving as Jennjenn strode hastily through Woodtop towards the temple's grounds,
her breath escaping in wisps of vapor into the early evening air. Silver strands danced about her upon the breeze
mimicking the thoughts racing through the Half-Giant's head as she made the familiar journey down the cobblestone path.
The sound of moving water grew increasingly louder until she came upon the light-dappled grove and its sparkling pool
and inviting benches. Heaving her loaded pack to the lush grass, Jennjenn leaned by the sparkling waters, splashing the
refreshingly cold liquid upon her face.

Leaving her pack by the pool, Jennjenn continued on. Removing her helm and tucking it beneath her arm, the Half-Giant
made her way down the twisting paths, her gaze falling on each magnificently carved statue as she passed, each a
testament to the strong history that shaped Light into what it had become today. Legendary scenes of battles fought, deeds
long done and glimpses into those who walked before her flashed through Jennjenn's mind as she continued along in the
direction of the towering Spire. As she approached the Spire she merged off the main path and followed another well-worn
trail through a heavy canopy of trees and lush foliage lit with flickering glass lanterns placed alongside the path.

Her eyes followed the enormous trees that twisted together to form the cathedral that stood before her as she slowly made
her way through the high arched doorway into the main hall. Her fingers glided over the sand-smoothed trunks that made
the columns of the cathedral as she laid her eyes upon the raised dais and its mosaic of radiant hues of orange, reds, and
yellow glass shards that made the glowing sun. A continuing thought hammered at her brain as she took in the beauty around
her.

Was Natalia right? Is Woodtop next? Are we next?

The stained glass orbs of flickering light that made the lanterns of the cathedral began to sway from side to side as if in silent
response to a question left unasked as Jennjenn made her way to the front pew and took a seat, bowing her head in silent prayer.

Some time later the sound of members arriving and gathering within the Grove brought Jennjenn's attention back to the task at
hand. Raising slowly, she took one last look at the blazing sun before turning to leave. The temple was gathering and plans were
to be made. If Natalia's visions had been right and the threats could be taken seriously, it was time to prepare for the possibility of
battle knocking on their doorstep. With that, she disappeared back the way she came to greet the group of awaiting members and
begin immediate preparations.

Step by step Hien began climbing until he was at the top of the Spire of Sun. Atop the Spire of the Sun his hands rested on the railing of the balcony.
His gaze stretched out across the expanse of Nirimloth Forest, Zanus was waning and began to set and he grew lost in thought. As his friends prepared
themselves for what would almost seem as the final showdown between the Revenant and the realm. He began piecing together the events that have
transpired. The attacks from the Revenant became more and more frequent and with each one more ferocious than the last, first with Skeletal Soldiers,
then Undead Dragons, then Hydras, and then all three combined. The destruction left in the Undead Hoard’s wake was devastating especially to Tranos
and Goldcroft, yet still many questions were still left unanswered, who was assisting him, what his goals are.

“Could it be true that he seeks Immortality? Is that what he is playing at?” Hien wondered to himself the thought completely preposterous. He
contemplated the possible threat to the Temple of Light now, he could be wrong, they all could be wrong. He may strike elsewhere, but many clues point in
that direction of Light. Lord Zir and the Immortals of Light have had a long relationship dating back to when Alvogyl first wielded the mantle. Hien began
getting lost in the teachings of history his Guild provided him for so many years they were almost ingrained in his very soul.

Zanus disappeared on the horizon; gently and slowly the dark night sky gave way to an amber hue. Light from the horizon began to peek through as the first
rays of morning started to flood back into the realm chasing away the darkness; never catching it, only keeping it at bay. Heavenly tones began to drift into
the temple just as the light from the sun began to strike the mirrors next to him, refracting and reflecting in all directions until the entire area was filled with
the warmth of the Sun’s light.

He gasped slightly, catching his breath as he stared down at the expanse of the forest and into the horizon. A bright and satisfied smile crossed his face, as
he beheld the majesty of the events unfolding before him.

“Whatever the storms bring, the Legion will rise to the defense of the Land with their allies.” He steeled his resolve for the pending battle to come.
