An evening in the Garden

Post by sliper »

There was a lot weighing on his mind. The attacks by the Fire Giants, the attacks by the Revenant, his recent guild transfer.

But that wasn't what brought him to the gardens of Fate this evening.

He was a citizen of Devardec from his earliest memories, and a member of the Wizard's Guild once he turned eighteen. As far as he remembered it, he joined the temple of Fate at the age of 20 or 21.

He was now close to 300 years old. He had been a citizen of Goldcroft, not Devardec, since the day Goldcroft opened its citizenship up to the public. He had been a Warlock for... a much smaller amount of time. He had followed Kirala, Medea, Anlin, and others...

Yet, here he was today, on the last day of Awakenings in the year 453, back in the garden of Fate where he frolicked as a young man.

Everyone else was gone. The only people left from when he joined the temple were now godss - God of Light, God of Dreams, God of... Fate.

His fellow followers of Fate, Pleasure, and Pain were few and far between; their path was not an easy one, and it seemed everyone followed the path of least resistance these days.

And so, he took a deep breath, and sat in the garden. There was knowledge here. There was peace here. There was something intangible here.

While it looked as though he was simply enjoying the flowers in the garden, he was taking in the knowledge of Montalin, of Baac, of Annabell-lee, of Alhanna, of Gunna-kill-ya, of countless others of Fate, Pleasure, and Pain who had come before...

He sat there kneeling in the gardens, looking as though he was possessed. He would be here to take in all he could. He would be here when he was needed.
