Wastrel Opportunity: A Temporary Edict

Post by venis »

An Edict of Opportunity
Proscribing Authorities:
Venis, the Prince of Avarice and Cardinal of the Order; and,
Satyana, Night Empress, the Queen of the Damned, and Cardinal of the Order
As of the 23rd of First Growth, 492

Introductory Remarks
Power is there for those strong enough to take it
- The Immortal Silk

We have heard the voice of Lord Silk. Our collective strength in this moment is most desired.

Punishment for recruiting those who would never prospectively rise above Wastrel would be the derision by one's peers within the fellowship, and of course, I personally would not be impressed
- The Immortal Vagma

But we temper this with the words of Lord Vagma.

We seek those of you who are our peers, those labeled but not owed the status of Wastrel, to come forth and take fellowship among us. Those of you who may have been overlooked in years past. Indeed, though our Order’s collection of individuals remains formidable, we are ever more Illustrious as a whole when we can find those of truly like disposition and mind. Many try. Many fail. But it will not be for our lack of amicable hand in seeking to elevate those of you who deserve it.

Now we issue this temporary edict. That you may step forward and claim what it is you feel you are owed. That you may make opportunity yours… for a time.

Synopsis

The Court of Dread is called to session, and its Council’s voting body shall be comprised of any able to boast that they are truly “of Dread”. During this short tenure those of you “Wastrels of Dread” who profess the desire for greatness, for the full recognition, privileges and status appurtenant to one of the Order, shall be afforded the opportunity to seize it.

Petitions and Affairs of Court

You, the collective of Wastrels, may find our benevolence extended until the otherworldly date of January 31st. During this period:
  1. A Wastrel need not abide by the typical sponsorship requirement as anticipated in the formalities of our hierarchy. Rather, a Wastrel may argue their own merits for fellowship to the Council. All other formalities proceed as per any other “Council” session.
  2. A Wastrel petitioning the Court of Dread for regular membership will require a unanimous vote of the Council in attendance, which will take place immediately after the Council has heard the Wastrel’s arguments.
  3. A Wastrel may appear at the Court of Dread by scheduling a time for audience. This may be done via either pigeon to both Venis (princevenis@gmail.com) and Satyana (dreaded.satyana@gmail.com), or via an in-realm (in-game) message to us both.
  4. Any missives should be appropriately titled and give a range of otherworldly times (OOC dates) the petitioning Wastrel believes would be amenable for discussion. We will coordinate with the normal body of the Order to receive your pleas for admittance. There is also the off chance that you may find us of the whim to receive you without a scheduled occasion, should there be such a fortuitous occasion.
In presenting your case to the Court of Dread and its Council of peers, a Wastrel would do well to heed this advice:
  • Have real reasons prepared that you merit the status you claim you are owed. You should think about these and be ready to defend/justify them.
  • Ask yourself what you have done that exhibits the qualities we cherish and champion and how you fit into this scheme. Be ready to give such examples.
  • Ask yourself what you bring to the table, and why we should care. Be ready to defend/justify this.
  • Remember that even though you are offered a chance to laud yourself and the greatness that becomes you without a sponsor “of Dread”, the general voting principles of the Council remain in effect--one may be voted out, in, or asked to come to us with more (read: asked to complete a task that is felt necessary to solidify the justification)
In Closing

Some may wait for opportunity to come to them, those of Dread take opportunity when it is presented. Come and take what you are owed, if you are worthy. If not, continue to languish in mediocrity.
