Fitful Dreams

Post by Aeth »

The old battlemage was plagued with nightmares.

His time out at sea never really helped to quell the vivid dreams that he had. He thought the further away he could go from the actually Lands of Terris could prevent the nightmares that plagued him. They were too real. Not...just something when you wake up in a night sweat and bring the lantern closer. Real dreams that seemed to seep into his reality. Real dreams of times that were, real dreams of times that could be, and real dreams of the past.

Sweat beaded down his pallor skin is he drove the fleet back towards Goldcroft. It was all too real to him as he started to question what was the real world and what was his dream world. Omnicat showed up in his dreams over and over. The temple was a recurring vision when he slept. Perhaps, it was just a vision or fevered dream. But, he felt like he had to do everything in his power to return.

The waves were mild as he aimed home with the fleet of ships. The men never really understood why now, he decided to return. But, their purpose was to be apart of Goldcroft's fleet and to prove their worth. He had the same purpose until he started to see these new visions. They unfortunately were subject to his whimsy back to the main shore. Too many questions as he slowly felt like he was descending into madness, but the orders were to return back to the docks.

Cold night sweats.

Some nights dreaming of beautiful fields and prosperity.

But, the years' long mission that he had been on was less than fruitful. His purpose was shifting and they were forced to obey his new orders. His nightmares of doom and despair across his home city and all of Terris drove him back towards the place. There had to be a reason and he felt as if they had accomplished more of their mission than they had to. This time is was going to be about what he believed was right. That would start at returning to Goldcroft and enforcing his visions upon that place.

Perhaps he had just turned mad. Perhaps, he succumbed to his nightmares and finally...finally...he felt open eyed like a doe if the doe was able to take on their captor.
