Kollin stood over his desk within the Stonekeep outpost as he re-read the messages he had prepared. He placed them into separate piles depending on how satisfied he was with the contents.

When he had first heard of Bikon’s declaration, the first thing that came to his mind was that it was a distraction, something to take people's attention away from what was going on within the Barony. As far as he could tell there was no proof of Croft’s involvement, but at the same time if he learned that was the case he wouldn’t be shocked. He didn’t dislike Bikon and he wanted to trust him, but something just wasn’t right in Stonekeep. Either he was hiding something himself, or he was being manipulated; By who or to what end he wasn’t sure.

Kollin sighed and picked up two messages addressed to Lord Bikon and Lord Croft directly. He re-read them for clarity and nodded slowly before placing them in the pile closest to the door: Requests to speak directly to them both. He wasn’t expecting much in way of a response from either, but it couldn’t hurt to try. Maybe he’d find out something critical that could put an end to the terrors plaguing the Barony.

Kollin reached for the next message in the pile. He looked at it briefly and shook his head, putting it aside in favor for the one beneath it: a message to Ambassador Lamaenor. He still had troops from Devardec within the outpost.

Kollin muttered something about politics as he re-read the message again. Since the declaration of war he hadn’t taken the soldiers out on maneuvers for terrain and climate training. Instead he had led knights and squires on patrols to spot this rumored creature that no one had seen close up yet, as well as the missing dwarf from the caravan which now had its own slew of unconfirmed rumors surrounding it.

Until he had heard what Devardec wished, he would continue to train them on the outpost grounds. Kollin nodded once more and placed this request to Lamaenor in the finished pile.

Kollin smiled softly as he took the next message and read it quickly. This was to Sir Zanza, his former squire. He was very proud of him, and expected great things but was worried this most recent task would be too much. Zanza would take command of the Goldcroft Outpost. Make sure it is properly stocked so that they may protect those who could not protect themselves, from whatever may cause them harm. Perhaps he may find more information about what is going on from the other side of things. This letter also made it to the outgoing pile.

He looked at the piles that remained and grumbled to himself. He quickly grabbed the next: A letter to Tybras, Master of the Monks. He had shown interest in helping in any way he could. They would need to meet and discuss what they could do, perhaps the townsfolk would be more willing to speak to a citizen. He shrugged and nodded, and put the letter in the outgoing pile.

The next one up was a letter to Ripshaw, a Ranger of Light. He was there when they came upon the massacre in Dirimloth. Perhaps he would have some insight onto what has been going on in his backyard, any strange creatures of late. That joined the other letters as well.

This continued until there was only one letter remaining. The one he kept pushing aside. It was blank with the exception of the addressee : Praetorian. He sighed and stared at it a moment before crumpling it up. No, a message would not do. They would talk in person, and he knew just where.

Kollin gathered the completed letters and left the office, handing them off to a squire for delivery. He went to the stables and retrieved his Pegasus, Luthonoir, and climbed atop him. Before he left, he called the stablemaster over.
Kelvian, let Lady Byrne know ahm headin ta tha Silver Rock Outpost ta check on some supplies. Will be headin ta tha Old Crow afterward if she wishes ta join me.
