Hawthorn's Inn

Post by streen »

The sound of heavy footsteps and rustling armor shook the air but dissipated just as abruptly, signaling the departure of a patrol as it moved down the pass. The Ogre guard were given broadened rights over the city, recently backed by an increased presence of Knights who offered aid to the city during the Chaos Storm.

An active military presence was foreign to this neighborhood, which was often overlooked or completely abandoned by a passive government that generally preferred to keep the status quo rather than cause an upset. In turn, the regulars of Hawthorn’s Inn were for the most part unconcerned with the recent happenings that had the realm flustered and moving. The storms would most surely hit the opposite side of the barony, and it was frequently reasoned aloud to one another that as long as the whiskey remained in stock, there was no reason to start caring.

In fact, it seemed that the Inn was uncommonly busy as foreigners had poured in from all around Norland. Tradesmen, hired hands and laborers found their way to the Inn attempting to establish themselves in the Keep now that the gates had reopened and promise for new opportunity showed.Other adventurers occasionally came in search of a challenge or a way to make a name for themselves. Exploring the Northern Valleys, the lakes and even the mines presented possibilities for young adventurers to try their hand at an altogether new challenge.

Sally’s girls were glad for the company, as the lonely merchants were both wealthier and kinder than the Ogres who trundled up from the bar most every other evening, or the scoundrels that came from Windell to turn a profit. This was, all things considered, a strange time for Stone Keep and truth be told, odd even for the Hawthorne’s inn, which had made a name for itself embracing some of life’s peculiarities.
