The Charter of Stone Keep

Post by streen »

The Community of Stone Keep
By accepting citizenship within the walls of Stone Keep, you acknowledge these guiding principles and vow to abide them. Blatant or repeated disregard of these values can lead to fines, loss of privileges and possible banishment from the Community without reparations.

Founded in a time before our parents were even born, Stone Keep is an ancient community, rich with mystery and hidden knowledge. The Community's heritage is to be explored and cherished as is the history each resident is building. We are dedicated to understanding the lore of our environment, learning and growing from it. We will also work together to support and sustain each other as we do all we can to reach our goal of enriching the community and the realm in which we reside. Because we value the perfect blending of future and past, we hold these principles to be true and value them above all others.
Stonekeep's Guiding Principles

1) Citizens of Stone Keep are Self-Sufficient.
We accept Ownership for our actions and decisions. We acknowledge that we all make mistakes and it is part of what makes us the wonderfully unique people we are. Because we take ownership for our decisions, any deletion to "better" skills will result in the loss of standing within Stone Keep. The house will need to be repurchased at standard market value. We learn by doing. We will not quest or fight beyond our means. If we cannot walk to the place on our own, we will take the time to learn the way rather than ask others to do it for us. We will be teachers to others. We will spend time guiding others in the ways of self-sufficiency, not by giving the answers but by teaching them to think and find the answers themselves. Our community is only as strong as our weakest citizen.

2) We handle ourselves with Honour and Dignity.
We are a reflection of our community's values so we will not disparage or bring shame to Stone Keep. We will not harass others, lie or intentionally hurt members of our community. If we find a bug or loophole in the game we will bring it to the Barons' attention and we will not exploit the bug. Bugs include abusing a quest or killing a monster that gives a disproportionately high amount of experience. If it seems too good to be true, chances are it is. By bringing it to the Barons' attention we can find out if it is a bug and help maintain balance in the land. We do not cheat! This includes item swapping, using multiple characters at the same time and giving or receiving answers to quests. Our mission is to strengthen our community and the members within it through patience and knowledge, not through the easy way out. We will treat others fairly. We need to celebrate our differences and not diminish them. Part of treating someone fairly is to not reward or punish someone for whom their relatives might be. Occasionally, in a small community we learn each other's cousins. Regardless of who another may have connections to, we treat everyone based on *their* actions and not the actions of others.

3) We are respectful towards others.
We will be respectful to all members in the community, the land and divine beings even if we do not like or agree with them. We accept that we are a diverse group and people's beliefs or actions may not mesh with our own. Differences are how we grow and learn, even though the process is sometimes uncomfortable. We are from different temples and different guilds and though certain groups may have innate animosities towards each other, those animosities are left in the burden basket at the gate. In Stonekeep we are ONE community, one family and we will be respectful even if we do not like each other. If you have a serious conflict with a member of the community or a divine being please speak with the Baron before it escalates. He will do all He can to mediate the situation objectively and try to find a resolution all parties can accept.

4) We are committed to growth.
We strive to enrich ourselves and grow. We will express our ideas to help expand the community and the ideas of others. We will also value the ideas of others. Brainstorming is how we will grow by contributing, listening and building on the ideas of others. No one member, including the Baron, has all of the answers or the only answers. It is up to each of us to make sure our thoughts are heard. We will be active citizens. The success or failure of Stonekeep is dependent on participation of its citizens. Any activities, ideas or changes we want in the community requires the support of its members. It is an expectation that each resident will find their niche in the community and strive to make the community richer, more complete. Regardless of our background, skills, history there is work for each of us to do. If we meet others who would flourish in Stonekeep and could help Stonekeep prosper, we will encourage them to investigate our community and find their niche within our stone walls.
