Securing the Surroundings

Post by Nefiris »

After knowing of the nine Khataran ships having separated from the main force, Nefiris felt on edge. She had already been working fast at moving her Thieves into scouting positions throughout the city, but now the threatened area had expanded.

Earlier in the day, she had met with the two other members of the Council to further plan and discuss the state of Tranos and what was to come. She left that meeting knowing exactly where she was going to spread more watchful eyes. Before she had, however, she stopped off at the war-front on the city docks. There, a pigeon was received by Marcin and her. As soon as Marcin read the letter attached to the bird's leg warning of an attack from the north, she moved quickly to scout ahead from the rest that were gathered at the war-front. Nefiris knew exactly where the Khatarans had set foot on land, the West Coast Beach just north of the city, one of the areas she was meaning to have watched. She tracked the large boot prints down the sands to the water where she saw three Khataran ships anchored just off shore.

She brought word back to the rest and led them to the beach to show what she had found. They split apart to cover more ground, wondering where the Khataran invaders might have gone. Some had feared they may have wandered into the sewers of the city, but that was unlikely as the gates hadn't been breached and no alarms had sounded. They had to have stayed to the wilds. Not knowing where the invaders had gone bugged Nefiris. As the rest of the ones that were checking around regrouped at the beach, she snuck back to the Thieves' Guild to ready its forces.

In addition to the postings within the city such as the docks and sewers, Thieves were sent all over: Trembil and its borders, Illiyarn, Mallston , the temple that lay seaside off the Great Western Road, the ruins of Telmarch, Nirimloth Forest, the Kobold caves, even the Goblin Hills. The most pressing area to watch for now was the beach. The Alibi's porch would be a nice inconspicuous vantage point to observe the beach from. Noticing any further movement from the Khatarans, either additional ships anchoring off the shore or the already landed invaders making their way back to the water, would be critical.

Once given notice that her Thieves had spread out to position, she waited for second notices to be received telling of each areas' situation so that she could report to Marcin where guards would need to be sent.

Preparing for Aid

Post by Nefiris »

In anticipation of the Rangers' arrival, Nefiris posted more guards along the Great Western Road to ensure their people and supplies made it safely into Tranos. Barter Square also underwent some changes as a majority of the stall merchants were moved into newly added stalls located in the central area of the city. It was a bit more packed, but they would be able to continue with their business. Not only did this free up space for the aid that was coming to the city, but it provided more protection to the previously more vulnerable merchants that worked near the docks. The only stalls to remain near the fountain were the food vendors' as they would provide for the guests.

Intent to Dazzle?

Post by Nefiris »

Nefiris sat with her right leg crossed over her left in the chair of her office, tapping the tip of her quill against the arm rest as she brainstormed new plans. In the midst of a self-proclaimed genius idea, she was interrupted, her train of thought ruined. With a flick of a finger, the quill was sent flying across the room, bouncing off the portrait of a previous guildmaster and onto the floor. Unlike the rest of the guild hall, this room remained furnished.

"Have you anything on the missing Khataran invaders that wander the land?" Nefiris inquired as she glared with obvious lament over her brilliance having been foiled by the messenger that stood in the doorway.

The messenger shook his head and began to answer. "N..." was all he could get out before his guildmistress cut him off.

"The Rangers are on the move?"

He shook his again which caused Nefiris dart up from her chair. The messenger couldn't tell if she were angry or if she were excited for a report that she hadn't been expecting.

"Go on. What've you got for me?" She smiled aggressively, baring her teeth with at the very uncomfortable feeling man with wide eyes.

Speaking with more confidence as it was now obvious that Nefiris was excited, he delivered his message. "Some time ago, our scouts reported that Thalador was putting on a magical light show on the docks." He watched as her expression melted into a frown. "But..." Just that word alone brightened her expression back up. "...a while after that display, a pair was seen coming out of the water."

Nefiris raised a brow. "A pair? Out of the water and onto the docks?"

"Yes. They've been identified as Lady Vespers and the Rogue, Fonzie." Nodding as he finished relaying the report, he stuck around to catch the responsive expression of Nefiris.

She denied him the satisfaction, turning her face away as she grinned with intrigue. "...Is that so?"
