History of Shadowwarlock

It was the 9th of Hallow Month in the year 97 and the High Elves looked down on the lesser races of the lands and basked in the favor of the Immortals. This was a time when their race was a proud one, not in danger of dying out. Their cities were great, and in one of these ancient mountain strongholds an elf-babe was born to noble parentage. They named the babe Alament and raised him with pride. He was trained in sorcery from an early age and the knowledge of the High Elves was imparted within him.

The lands were fairly young then and he moved to explore them at an early age for Elf lings, anything to further his knowledge and satiate the wanderlust that has settled within his breast after learning much of the lower lands. In these many years he spent scouring the many landscapes Alament grew in magical aptitude and was accepted among the ranks of the Warlocks by appointment. His offensive abilities were honed and the magic was deeply ingrained in his blood.

Soon after, in pursuit of more power, the search for an ancient High Elven spell-obelisk, he was brought into contact with the Shadows by another searching for the same artifact, none other than the Hero of Shadows, Corin. He relinquished the obelisk to Corin having a deep respect for everything the man stood for and in return asked only to be told of Kestanan. Within the year he was inducted as a Devotee of Night, rising to priesthood shortly after. He was favored by his god for his devotion and unwavering loyalty. Many battles were fought against the Light and the other oppressors of Shadows, Night, and Thievery in those times and Alament was found to be an excellent tactician and was looked on with respect within the ranks of Kestanan’s temple and even by those who opposed their dark agenda.
He was granted the title of “The Shadowwarlock” by his peers and excelled in his studies, perfecting many of the spells of the time and adding his touch to some of the spells now taught to the young magic-users in the lands. He reached the pinnacle of his power and was content serving Kestanan for years until the Lord of Shadows was lost to this world.

This was a dark time for The Shadowwarlock, he was left with no God to follow and devoted most of his time to the guild which had taken him in at a young age. Years passed and new leaders came to the Warlocks. Alament didn’t bother with the politics, just mentoring the young ones and speaking of better times when Shadows crawled the lands seeking the Light and extinguishing it. Leadership passed to Kort and Alament found himself disgraced for opposing many of his decrees and actions when Kort was a young Warlock. Accusations of treason to his Guild were constructed and this propaganda was released to the younger ranks. Left with nothing except a bitter taste in his mouth and a longing for the times when his race stood proud over all of the inferior Elven bloodlines and over all of the lesser races, Alament vanished from the lands for a time in a deep rest, returning at times to attempt to grant some wisdom to the degenerating people of the lands. He was the sole remaining Priest of Night and follower of Kestanan and some looked upon him with respect and some with scorn.

Upon his full return in the year 300 Alament finally distanced himself enough from the Warlocks and was added to the ranks of the Assassin’s… Not a magical guild, but where he felt most accepted. Lord Silk has taken up the Sphere of Shadows and was proclaimed the new Immortal. Alament was inducted back into the ranks as an Elder of Shadows, still possessing the knowledge of the old temple and Kestanan’s teachings. Forever devoted to the Shadows he will continue to serve to his full extent. He can still be heard lecturing those with deaf ears on better times but now with a bit of optimism for times to come.
