Pets and SteedsSince the early days of the Rogues Guild, there have
been many who have helped to rear and raise animals for use by the Rogues.
Many of these creatures have been grown to massive size, allowing them to be
used as mounts, though some Rogues can often be seen caring for smaller
'hand-held' versions of the creatures.
The mounts can currently be found at the following places throughout the
Guild:
- Sly Weasels: Available by Quest only.
- Dark Elven Steeds: Summonable by Guild Officers
- Giant Wolf: Available from Kheryn (Guild Level 1)
- Dark Panther: Available from Kheryn (Guild Level 1)
- Keg: Available from Royce_Elendil (Guild Level 1)
- Raccoons: Available from Royce_Elendil (Guild Level 1)
- Vixens: Available from Zero (Guild Level 9)
- Vipers: Available from Artful_dodger (Guild Level 39)
- Drakes: Available from Smagus (Guild Level 49)
- Crows: Available from Feya (Guild Level 74)
The longest standing guild mounts have been the Dark Panther and the
Wolf, these have been around for many years and still serve as one of the
first mounts that young rogues are allowed to take as their own.
Giant Wolf
These creatures are of a breed grown to huge size. Loyal to guild members as if they were part of their pack, and protective of the younger members like their own cubs. To guild members they can be affectionate and tame, yet when needed to defend they show a fierce, wild heart. These creatures are perfect for those still learning to ride.
Dark Panther
Silent, deadly, graceful and sleek. These hardy felines have stalked around the Rogues Guild for centuries and were perhaps responsible for many of the 'stalking beast' rumours and legends around the city of Devardec. The cats are adept at climbing walls, leaping gaps and skulking in the dark, with only a flash of their piercing eyes showing the instant before they pounce. They are as deathly loyal and willing to protect young rogues as they would their own cubs.

At some point in or around 193 (with the announcement of discovery made by Efink on 08 May 2000 on the old boards), the Weasel Den was first discovered and the
Sly Weasels joined our cause.
The additional guild mounts (or pets) were first added to our roster around the year 237 (my log after update 17 October 2002/10 Longing 237).
When first introduced our mounts were quite different, as the HELP ROGUES GUILDMOUNTS at the time shows:
Weasel
Bred to huge sizes by the Rogues guild, these sharp toothed and utterly untrustworthy creatures are as difficult to capture and control as the
Rogues themselves. Nevertheless, young rogues are made to ride them.
Vixen
These slant eyed foxes are hard to capture, and even more difficult to ride, as an owner must convince the creature that it is in its own
best interest to do so. Dog foxes refuse outright, where as Vixens usually
respond to flattery and fine foods. Intelligent and sly mounts, for those that have the knack.
Viper
As likely to bite you as they are transport you, these bad tempered mounts
have the massive advantage of being deadly in combat. Charming these cold blooded creatures is said to be nigh on impossible. It is quite a feat to
ride one.
Drake
These semi dragons are like winged vipers, unpredictable, poisonous and skittish. Owners must constantly outwit and surprise these mounts should
they wish to ride atop these fantastically colored winged beasts.
Genie
There are said to be only a few Genies indentured to the rogues guild at any given time. Having been outwitted by Guild masters and legendary
rogues, they are forced to carry their masters everywhere, until the guild releases them from their magical bonds. They never speak to their masters,
it is said, because they are sulking. Apparently they like riddles, and hate boxes, bottles and vases.
From HELP ROGUES GUILDMOUNTS
The mounts were:
- Weasel: Sneaky, Mad, Wild, Stealthy, Cheeky
- Vixen: Sly, Grinning, Stealthy, Silent, Mad
- Drake: Fire, Dungeon, Sea, Cloud, Storm
- Genie: Azure, Sapphire, Malachite, Onyx, Amber
- Viper: Striped, Banded, Black, Red, White
It wasn't long before the existing weasels got jealous of their young,
weaker cousins and a guild notice from 263 (my log 31 March 2004/3 First Harvest 263) by our Guildmaster at the time, Lypquinsi, stated "The low-level weasel mounts are now Raccoons!".
Raccoons
The raccoons have a reputation for being clever and mischievious little
creatures. In the cities, raccoons are noted for using their thumbs and
stubby fingers to open many closed containers, such as garbage cans and
doors to get access to food. Raccoons are often considered a nuisance,
and many people are surprised when a creature that they usually think of as cute or cuddly raids their
property at night and makes odd growls and fights viciously over scraps of food.
All of these traits make Raccoons ideally suited as pets to young Rogues,
who are often described in the same terms.

The mounts were:
- Raccoons: Slinking, Fuzzy, Cunning, Shifty, Masked
Not long after, the Genies were released from their service, and taking
inspiration from our Guild Patron - Ravenmaster Sidney, Immortal of
Nightmares - the guild adopted a flock of giant crows as our new pets. A guild notice from 264 (my log 22 April 2004/29 First Harvest 264) by Lyp stated "Crows instead of genies!"
Crows
Fierce and strong, the crows are difficult to tame and even more difficult to master. Their graceful soaring is often missed by many, as their black sleek shapes blend in to the night sky. With keen senses and a vicious beak, these creatures are more than able to reign in a combat situation. Only the most experienced Rogues can ever hope to gain command of these winged beasts.

The mounts were:
My first sighting of the Keg as a mode of transportation for us was when I passed the shop on 17 Frost Fall 254 (20 September 2003), however, they may have been about before and I just never paid attention.
Keg
A cylindrical container, made of wood staves and bound with iron hoops. Inside,
alcoholic liquid swooshes and slops around. The convex shape, bulging at the middle, makes it relatively easy to roll on its side, changing directions with little friction. The Keg makes a wild, run-away ride for anyone fool-hardy enough to try it.

Another mount, that can only be summoned by the Guild Leader and Lieutenants in
times of need, is the Dark Elven Steed. These mounts are mysterious
war-steeds, ready to serve in battle.
