While the origins of Lyresong's settlements remains unestablished, factors indicate the barony has been a prosperous comminty within the shadows of the dark forest of Dirimloth for many centuries.
Believed to have been founded by a group of elven rangers, who soul purpose was to reclaim Dirimloth from the darkness that griped the forest.
Though their first efforts proved futile, they soon turned to the aid of magic...
"Within a powerful circle of enchanted stones the rangers began to construct a large manor which would serve as their headquarters. With druid allies, the rangers cast a spell on the manor so that it would draw in the surrounding darkness and contain it in a single protected room. The rangers hoped that drawing the inherent darkness out of the forest would give footing to the forces of light. As people settled around the manor, the power of the spell would grow, slowly reclaiming the forest over time. It is believed that the strange ethereal music still heard throughout the city is an effect of this spell."
With the loss of the Baronial war with the Heavens Lyresong was sealed away by the will of the Immortals, there to remain for many years. While little is known of the barony before the time of its reappearance, some speculate its origens to be that of the same as Dirimloth.
Centuries passed before Lady Kyria took note and decided the time had come for Barons to reclaim the lost lands. Ten mortals were deemed worthy, it was then in the year of 174, Madbaron was approached by Kyria.
Though much time had passed since the barony was sealed, all seemed untouched by age. Little work was done to restore the barony.
Under the watchful eye of Madbaron, Lyresong began to grow. Gaining stature and power within the realms. Often plagued by Zagrat Imparness, the barony never fell to his attacks.
Though committed to a policy of isolationism for many years, Lyresong has slowly expanded its influence in the world. On 8 Deori's Pleasure 254, at the request of Lady Jessicana, Lyresong assumed stewardship of Spire Hold.
By establishing a strong trade and bartering system, both Lyresong and Spire Hold lead the way in supplying commodities to the baronies and villages of Norland. Lyresong's stature rose again when Rexington's Temple of Love completed its move there from Tranos on 3 Cherrin 261.
Continuing to grow, it was on day 21 of the month of Longing of the year 268, Baron Madbaron proclaimed the town of Wintertown a voluntary holding of the Barony of Lyresong, and as such, is subject to its laws and rulings.
As such the Barony has often given aid to the struggling town during the harsh winters as well as when dealing with the deamons of the valley.
