Dirimloth Forest
Dark and forboding, the giant forest lies to the north of the city of
Devardec. Immense and thick, the inner reaches are said to be incredibly
dangerous. Many secrets and hidden dangers lie among the twisted branches.
Rumored to house the huge cave where many giants dwell as well as some
subterreanian tunnels where the massive fire breathing hydras can be found.
Many a hunting party has met it's demise here.
Located on the eastern side of the continent of Norland, Dirimloth was once part of the larger Nirimloth Forest. When the dwarves built the Great Northern Road, they effectively cut Nirimloth in two. The west half of the forest was still called Nirimloth, but the east half was renamed Dirimloth. The elven rangers that patrolled the forests were no longer able to protect both parts, so they retreated into Nirimloth and left Dirimloth to develop on its own. Alas, the forces of evil saw their chance and poisoned the forest, twisting the great trees and removing the sunlight. Now, Dirimloth is a haven of bloated spiders and hungry wolves. Rumours persist that the forest contains many ruins full of treasure and gold. Only the very brave or the very foolish would willingly venture into its reaches.
